Holy mother of wow. Paul McCartney is 70 years old. Yes, he’s had enough cosmetic surgery that the ghost of Jim Henson wants to stick his hand up his ass and operate him like a Muppet but whatever. This performance at the Sandy relief show is just phenomenal. Amazing. I was never a huge fan even though the very first concert I saw was Paul McCartney and Wings in 1976. He captured my imagination with his under-appreciated album “Flowers in the Dirt” in 1993 but to think 50 years after the Beatles hit it big that he could sing and play like this is unthinkable. All that plus Diana Krall on one song (she bangs Elvis Costello. Let that sink in a moment), all the parts of Nirvana that didn’t blow their brains out and, last but not least, darksidelawyer on drums. Pretty cool. It’s about 40 minutes long but well worth the watch.
